Losing the Spark

Guest post written by my buddy Fidel Hernandez

My husband and I used to go out all the time, but lately we are staying home and watching Dish Television more and more often. I miss the days when we would go to dinner with friends, and even dancing sometimes. I know that life isn’t always about going out and having fun, but I feel like we’re losing our spark. We used to be so fun and carefree, and I feel like we’re becoming old people way too quickly. I don’t want to put a lot of pressure on him to spend money and take me out, but I don’t want to get so bored that I’m unhappy in our marriage. It’s expensive to hire a babysitter, but I think we would be able to afford it at least once a week. It’s important to spend time alone together so that we don’t lose our connection. I’m going to bring it up to him tonight to see what he thinks, and I hope he takes it well. Who knows? Maybe he is even feeling the same way but he doesn’t want to hurt my feelings.

New TV

Thanks for the article from Jermaine Haynes

My husband just bought a new flat screen TV for our family room. He got it as an early Christmas present for himself and now he wants to get satellite direct tv. I do not really blame him for wanting to have HD channels. I actually am really looking forward to watching movies on that big screen. My son says he can’t wait to play video games on it. I think our biggest problem will now be who gets to use the TV at which times. I have already told our kids that they get no more than 30 minutes of TV on school nights. On the weekends I hope that we can watch movies together as a family. I know that my husband is really looking forward to watching football on the TV. The screen is so big and clear that I think it looks like you are at the game. He said that he does not think he will ever have to buy another ticket to a football game because looking at that clear screen in the comfort of your own home is worth so much more than the experience of going to a game. I think we are all going to enjoy the new TV.

The Allure of Fred Astaire

Thanks for the article from Robin Woodard

While watching my satellite tv, that I got after finding "www.directstartv.com". I happen to see a marathon that features Fred Astaire. This actor was downed by a director at one time saying that he couldn't dance, sing, or act; fortunately none of that was true. He was a gangly type that could tap and ballroom dance his way into the hearts of million before, during and after the second World War. He would be cast in comedies along side his favorite leading lady, Ginger Rogers. The chemistry between the two led to over twenty movies together. Some of them were black and white and some were not, but the chemistry was always there.

This marathon led to an all day couch fest. I couldn't tear myself away if I had wanted to and that was all right. Watching Fed Astaire and Ginger Roger dance whisks me away to a quieter, more gentle time period that on the outside was anything but. It was wonderful to be able to be taken back to a time that was before my time. He is by far my favorite actor of all time and having those memories of an all day marathon that seemed it was meant just for me is something that I will keep with me for rainy days.

Working out can be easy

Contribution by Johnny Avila

For many people when they decide that they want to work out they head to the gym. For me I cannot afford to go to the gym because the memberships cost so much money. That is when I know that I can easily work out just by going out of my door and heading down the jogging path. Now this may not seem like it would be fun, but the jogging path that I go on is one that wraps its way around the city.

Some of the paths that I go on are going to take me out into the deep woods that are surrounding the city, but some of the paths will take me on the river banks. Either of these paths are going to let me know that the city is filled with beauty, but it is also going to let me know that the city is one that is very peaceful no matter what the crime reports say.

Anytime that I go out to do my morning jog I always make sure that I set my home security alarm www.allhomesecurity.com/adt-home-security-equipment.html . I know that I just talked about the lack of crime, but I know that for me it was not always that way because I used to have criminals breaking in before I decided to get this security system to help protect the house.

New ideas

I have been doing alot of aerial photography lately, and the more I do it, the more I come up with ideas on how to use it to my best interest. One of my interests is to do
aerial videography. I am not sure yet how to do it, but I hope to figure it out and then go out and give it a try. I am sure it will take some dialing in, but I am up for the challenge. Another interesting one would be to do a golf course aerial video tour. It would be neat to see the greens from the air and fly from green to green. I am sure in order to do that, you would have to get permission from the golf course, and if they give you permission I would think that they would buy it if it was done correctly!

Online Games

Do you ever just want to relive your childhood and want to play Pac-man online? Guess what? There are a few websites that will let you play them for free. Or maybe you're younger and want to play hidden object games - those are available also. The games these days are endless, and I am guilty of playing pac-man and frogger. There are some games that I have no idea how to play but there are instructions for those who want to learn a new game. So if you're into the hidden object games or other types of games, feel free to click the link and have at it.

From the air

When we moved into our home in northern Illinois, we realized that we needed a mailbox. Coming from California, in an area where residential mailboxes were located at one spot for several houses, this was a surprise for us.

What to do? What to do?

I wish we would have known about this company that specializes in residential mailboxes as well as commercial mailboxes. We ended up going the do-it-yourself route and were not as pleased with the results as we had hoped. Many times it pays to go with the professionals!

This company has way more selection than any home improvement store can offer, with many unique ways to add to the character of your home!
