Thanks for the article from Robin Woodard
While watching my satellite tv, that I got after finding "www.directstartv.com". I happen to see a marathon that features Fred Astaire. This actor was downed by a director at one time saying that he couldn't dance, sing, or act; fortunately none of that was true. He was a gangly type that could tap and ballroom dance his way into the hearts of million before, during and after the second World War. He would be cast in comedies along side his favorite leading lady, Ginger Rogers. The chemistry between the two led to over twenty movies together. Some of them were black and white and some were not, but the chemistry was always there.
This marathon led to an all day couch fest. I couldn't tear myself away if I had wanted to and that was all right. Watching Fed Astaire and Ginger Roger dance whisks me away to a quieter, more gentle time period that on the outside was anything but. It was wonderful to be able to be taken back to a time that was before my time. He is by far my favorite actor of all time and having those memories of an all day marathon that seemed it was meant just for me is something that I will keep with me for rainy days.
